Now we have to prepare the software in about a months time for the finals. Our software will be very useful for the blind people and will create enthusiasm to hear the voice as emotions will play a big role.

We will be starting the work shortly and try our best to get selected in the finals.

S3L Phase 1 Testing Completed Successfully

We completed the testing of S3L today in the lab. S3L is a student feedback system which we are developing for the college. It aims to apply technology for the purpose of providing feedback from the students.

Today we successfully tested the system by gathering the feedback from 43 students of our class. Initially there were some problems due to network connectivity failure but it was later resolved. The students logged in from the different machines based on the username and passwords provided by us and gave their feedback regarding the current semester.

We gathered the statistics on a server. Then the teachers viewed the feedback using the report generator which we had designed to create graphs based on the information.

Now we are looking forward to implement the same system for all the departments of the college. We hope to complete this activity this summer after the exams. Here are some screenshots of S3L:

Configuring remote machines for Detection by SamStn

SamStn can be used to connect to remote machines and change their administrative and security settings. Before it can detect the machines and make any changes the remote client machines must be configured to accept remote connections from SamStn.

Follow these steps to configure the systems:

Assume that :
pc #1 = Machine that will control pc#2
pc #2 = Machine that will be controlled by pc#1

* Both computers will be using the original default "Administrator" account or any other account with Administrator privileges.

1. Login to (pc#1) using the original Administrator account.

2. Go to Administrative Tools/Services. Make sure that the services referenced below are started and set to startup Automatically.

COM+ Event System
Remote Access Auto Connection Manager
Remote Access Connection Manager
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator
Remote Registry
Server
Windows Management Instrumentation
Windows Management Instrumentation Driver Extensions
WMI Performance Adapter
Workstation

Close the Services window.

3. Go to Start/Run and paste in wmimgmt.msc and click OK.
Right click on WMI Control (local) and select Properties.
Click the Security tab and then click on Root.
Click the Security button.
Make sure the Administrator account is added and that the Allow column has checkmarks in all the options.
Click ok twice.

6th in Open Software at IIT Kanpur

Our team got 6th rank in Open Software organized by IIT Kanpur. We had created a SamStn which is a remote system administration tool. The response of judges and the visitors was great. They told us to contact microsoft for the project extension. We will definitely try to contact them as soon as possible.

All of you can freely download the setup from the here below and have a test run.

SamStn requires .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 to be installed on the machine. Download it from here.

Before you start using SamStn note that :

* We are not providing the support for Windows XP because 0f some compatibility issues of some components. It is fully supported on Windows 7 and Vista.
* The memory and processor usage might be high when running SamStn since we are still in the process of optimizing the code.

Leave your comments about the SamStn and its features.
